Enschede-based QSA Technology has received Early Stage Financing from Overijssel to further strengthen the development of its photonic chip for quantum-safe authentication. This technology is intended to better protect critical communication infrastructures against the next generation of quantum computers, which could undermine existing cybersecurity methods. The photonic chips generate unique light patterns that cannot be copied, enabling more reliable authentication of devices and systems in networks such as fiber optics, mobile phones, and satellites.
The investment enables technical validation, pilots, and the development of strategic partnerships, and supports the team's growth. QSA Technology is building on four patents and the establishment of a private limited company (BV), with support from Oost NL and partners such as the University of Twente.
The funding not only contributes to QSA's own product development but also strengthens the photonics and quantum technology ecosystem in the eastern Netherlands, where companies and knowledge institutions collaborate to bring innovative key technologies from the lab to practice.
